This metaphor is obviously particularly apropos for the musically inclined subject, but may be appreciated by many others also. There are many metaphoric concepts that may be included in such a metaphor, depending upon the concerns and problems of the patient: harmony and discord, orchestrating, rehearsal, leading and following, cooperation with each other and the importance of the different parts to each other, balance, tune and not in tune, fine tuning, the automaticity that comes after lengthy practice, picking up the tempo, etc. (Ed.)
